The Slug in Newbury has quite a nice bright and airy feel due to the high ceilings with exposed rafters, and having a long row of windows with a nice view of the canal.The food was decent, and not overpriced. I had the fish and chips, and the fish was great, but I thought the chips could have been a bit crispier. They only had mushy peas when I ordered, but that was fine as I prefer them to the regular kind. We also ordered hot chocolates with cream and marshmallows, but they had no marshmallows. Not a big deal, but worth noting.The staff were very friendly and helpful. We didn't have to wait long for our food either. All in all quite happy with the Slug and Lettuce, but not quite a perfect score.

I've had amazing and awful experiences in the slug and lettuce. Drinks are always well priced with their 2 for 1 offers, however they often decide that they're not going to make about half of those drinks anyway and then suddenly stopped serving any cocktails. My hen do here doing the cocktail making class back in April was amazing though, I just think the main bar isn't as good
Lovely lunch. Food really nice. Staff very helpful as with two elderly friends. I had Nachos with chilli beef. Yum.
Very nicely decorated; staff are kind and professional. Food and drinks were superb as expected. Overall a great lunch out.
