I bought drinks and food for me and my co-workers tonight. I paid cash and told the bartender to keep the change. He laughed at me and ironically said "Good, I'm rich now" as he gave me the change back. Now, I work in the hospitality as well, and I've never ever rejected a tip because it was "not enough" for me. This guy was extremely rude and slightly bullying. Customers pay his wage and they're treated like rubbish. Simply shameful.
Great for sport and not a bad meal for the price. Can be a bit of a wait for a drink though...
Walkabout Newbury is generally a good place to go, it is cheap and good quality. We went during the city/Liverpool match which is the only time we've not been able to sit and service was slow but other than that we've never had a problem. Good variety of events on here as well.
Last visit coincided with a Newbury race day and the place was packed. Still got served pretty quick and apart from the three times the fire alarm went off it was decent. Some.hot wings helped with decent beer too. Might try again without a race day event to see if atmosphere is same
After sitting down on a small table we were informed that the maximum amount of seats allowed for that table was 4 and as we had 5 one was being taken. I completely respect these rules but what I do not appreciate is that just opposite us was another small table that had 6 people around it all on chairs.when I questioned this I was asked to leave as the employee was clearly getting stressed and couldn't give me an answer. In essence, you can't make rules for one and not for the other!
