Had a lovely two night stay. On arrival we had a cream tea with freshly made warm scones and a never ending tea supply! We chose to eat in the lounge which was beautifully decorated and comfortable. We stayed in a small suite which was not small. It was spotlessly clean and well presented. High quality toiletries supplied and a powerful hairdryer. Tea and coffee making facilities plus a separate coffee machine which were refreshed daily. We didn't have an evening meal but the breakfast was delicious. On Sunday it was self service but nevertheless the food was fresh and hot. On Monday it was cooked to order - fluffy omelette with generous fillings. All the staff were very welcoming and friendly.
Getting better, still lots required to be done but definitely better stay from last time.. One point to note: they have a ultra short tables for breakfast for those who have chosen bed and breakfast..this is a bad customer experience I would like to share
Been for a staff Christmas do 2 years in a row. In 2017 they provided some house wine per table but in 2018 there was none and it was the same price. Drinks are very expensive even compared to other hotels of a similar standard in my opinion. Staff are mostly lovely and polite though and service was fast.
A good hotel in the centre of Newbury. We've had a delicious Xmas Lunch in the hotel restaurant. Nice people working in the hotel. Can only revommend.
Price not justified for the service.Cleanliness could be improved. Booked for 2 days, but the room was having low ceiling and the room was looking cramped. Asked for a different room next day and the staff were helpful to move me to a suite.Could have been better to include water for the guests in the room, which is basic these days.Parking needs a token to exit and there was no notice upfront in the reception about it.Unless there are no other hotels, I would avoid booking the Chequers next time.
